Studies in Structuring Light

Using glass type to mimic the realistic characteristics of the subject: milk glass paired with clear sparkle glass simulates the selective, reflective glow one gets when looking at a snowflake from different angles.

This piece explores the idea that glass selection is not secondary to design—it’s part of the design. Each segment is given its own signature in glass, balancing color and texture. Clear textured areas represents open spaces, separating and highlighting the geometry rather than filling it.

Artificial light requires intentional material considerations. Warmer sources such as candlelight pairs well with warmer colors. In this study, softer purples, greens, yellows, and milk glass were selected to compliment the light source.
